Bushra Amiwala Lauds National Guard Restraining Order: “A Win for Illinois” 'President Trump is politicizing our troops. He’s ordering them to intimidate and harass his political opponents,” said Amiwala, the first Gen Z elected official in the nation. “It’s disgraceful. Those orders are an insult to everyone who has ever served our country.'

CHICAGO:- A federal judge granted a restraining order against President Trump’s National Guard deployment in Illinois. Effective Thursday evening, the National Guard troops will not be able to patrol the streets of Chicago for the next two weeks.

Amiwalla said, ‘Someone had to remind the president that he is not a king. Judge April Perry did exactly that. Her ruling is a win for Illinois. She told us what we already knew: the National Guard wasn’t deployed here to enforce the law. It was deployed to violate the Constitution.’

Thursday’s ruling found no evidence that there is danger of a rebellion in Illinois. There is no legal justification for the guard’s presence here.

‘President Trump is politicizing our troops. He’s ordering them to intimidate and harass his political opponents,” said Amiwala, the first Gen Z elected official in the nation. “It’s disgraceful. Those orders are an insult to everyone who has ever served our country.’

The development comes just hours after President Trump threatened to have Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson arrested for failing to welcome Trump’s incursion. Both leaders have vowed not to back down.

‘The judiciary is a co-equal branch of government. The executive can’t ignore the law just because he feels like it,” said Amiwala. “I think my neighbors will sleep better at night knowing armed soldiers are not allowed to terrorize civilians in our streets.’
