ILLINOIS:- Bushra Amiwala, a congressional candidate in Illinois’ 9th district, said her campaign raised $430,000 in the first three months of fiscal year 2025. The number of people who financially supported her election campaign and the number of voters who supported her have increased significantly.

According to information provided by Amiwala, who was elected to the Skokie School District 73.5 board, her campaign raised $430,000.

Bushra Amiwala said, ‘I view every donation as a gift and a responsibility. I am proud to personally know almost every person who has contributed to my campaign—something no other candidate in this race can claim. These intentional, relationship-based donations are a testament to the strong belief in my campaign and candidacy.’

The end of Q3 represents an important milestone for the election cycle. During the last quarter, Amiwala hosted 140 meet and greets with voters across the district. With quarterly financial reports mandated by the Federal Election Commission, this juncture provides insight into the fundraising abilities of each campaign.

“The quarter’s strong fundraising numbers confirm what I already knew; IL-09 is ready for bold new representation,” Amiwala said. “I’m one step closer to advancing solutions in Congress that make life better for everyone who lives here.”

Corporations, powerful lobbying groups and super PACs are already pouring cash into Congressional candidates, funding campaigns in Illinois and every other state. By contrast, Amiwala does not accept corporate or super PAC funds.

“Special interests are spending millions on this race,” Amiwala said. They have succeeded in buying the loyalty of some candidates, but not mine. My role is to listen to my constituents, partner with them, and problem-solve with them—not sell out to massive corporations.”
