KATHMANDU:- Utsav Aryal has been elected as the Bagmati Province President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). In the election held on Saturday, he defeated the outgoing President Dr. Achyutham Lamichhane by two votes and was elected to the provincial leadership.

According to Bhuwan KC, coordinator of the RSP Central Election Department, Aryal received 416 votes while Lamichhane received 414 votes.

The Bagmati Province Convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) was inaugurated in Hetauda on June 26. The election process, which was stalled due to a dispute over leadership selection, was concluded on Saturday at the Smart Party Palace in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu.

The outgoing president Lamichhane and Utsav Aryal were competing for the post of provincial president. Although there was a provision that no panel could be formed before the election, there was talk of an unannounced group competition between the main candidates. Some representatives expressed dissatisfaction when voting began later than the scheduled time.
