LONDON:- The 16th Nepali Mela organized by Tamu Dhee UK has concluded with grandeur, including cultural costumes and music, Nepalese food and dance.

Organizers have claimed that around 13,000 Nepalese participated in the fair held at Kempton Park in near London on Sunday.

Addressing the event, the chief guest of the event, Nepali Ambassador to the UK, Chandra Kumar Ghimire, said that the festival brought Nepal’s cultural diversity to the UK.

He said, “The Tamu Dhee UK has created history by presenting Nepal in a diverse and historical way on this British soil.”

Stating that Nepalese in the UK have made significant contributions to the prosperity of Nepal, he requested that the second generation also be connected to Nepal.

He also praised the efforts being made by the UK to preserve Nepali culture and heritage, saying that the relationship between Nepal and the UK has become stronger due to the contributions of Ex Gurkhas.

The special guest of the program, Kulman Ghising, former Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority and social activist, said that the country will not be illuminated by the light of lamps alone and that the Bright Nepal Campaign has been launched to bring light to the entire region of Nepal.

Ghising said that the right political leadership is necessary for Nepal’s overall transformation, adding that the country cannot make progress unless the politics are right.

The program, organized under the chairmanship of Tamu Dhee UK President Jumkaji Gurung, was moderated by General Secretary Dr. Bishal Gurung.

Forty-four cultural tableaus were displayed at the fair, and nearly 70 different organizations and businesses set up their stalls.

At the fair, Pasa Puch Guthi UK won the Ambassador Cup with 1,100 pounds for excelling in both tableau and dance, while Kirat Yakthung Chumlung UK won the second prize and Kirat Rai Yayokhya UK won the third prize.
