Voter Education Campaign to Begin as Election Day Nears

-

KATHMANDU:- With 22 days remaining until voting day, the Election Commission (EC) is set to roll out a nationwide voter education campaign aimed at ensuring a smooth and effective House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5.

The campaign will run from February 15 to March 1, focusing on helping voters better understand the voting process and minimizing the number of invalid ballots.

As part of the initiative, one voter education volunteer will be deployed in each of the country’s 6,743 wards across 753 local levels. These volunteers will visit households to inform citizens about voting procedures and the importance of their participation.

According to EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, sample ballot papers will be used to practically demonstrate how to cast a valid vote. Additionally, a designated contact person will be assigned at every local level to oversee and monitor the voter education activities.

The EC believes this targeted outreach will contribute significantly to higher voter awareness and a more credible electoral process.
