-

KATHMANDU:-  The Ministry of Home Affairs has stepped up preparations for vehicle procurement to ensure the upcoming House of Representatives elections are conducted freely, fairly, and peacefully.
According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, procurement processes have progressed smoothly following approval from the Finance Ministry.

A total of Rs 351.1 million has been allocated for the purchase of 156 vehicles for Nepal Police, along with an additional Rs 453 million for 106 more vehicles. These include 75 pickup vans, one prisoner van, 41 electric vehicles, 10 escort pickups, and vehicles for 28 offices. Many police vehicles were destroyed during the recent Gen-Z protests, increasing the urgency for replacements.

For the Armed Police Force, the Finance Ministry has ensured funding to buy 59 vehicles, including three disaster-response units, 50 Bolero pickups, three riot-control trucks, and two ambulances.

Similarly, Rs 28 million has been released for the procurement of vehicles for the National Investigation Department.

Officials say all processes have reached the final stage as the country prepares for the March 2026 HoR elections.
