Participate confidently in voting: Security agencies

KATHMANDU:- The security agencies, including the Nepali Army (NA), have urged the voters to participate in the House of Representatives elections with confidence, arguing that adequate security arrangement was in place for it.     

NA Spokesperson Rajaram Basnet informed that all preparations and arrangements were over to ensure safe voting in collaboration with all related agencies, following the integrated security strategy.

In an interview given to the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on the eve of elections, he stated that security personnel, including the Nepali Army, were mobilized well to for a safe atmosphere for people to cast votes.

For election security, a total of 79,727 Nepali Army personnel, 75,797 Nepal Police officers, 34,567 Armed Police Force members, 1,921 National Investigation Department staff, and 149,090 election police were mobilized.

Spokesperson of the Nepal Police, Avi Narayan Kafle, said police teams along with election officials and logistics had reached all polling stations across the country. The police have been instructed well to prevent any anti-election activities during the silence period, including the misuse of social media.

Kafle urged everyone to vote without apprehension. He added that approximately 200 cyber police were monitoring social media to eliminate election harmful contents.

Likewise, Spokesperson of the Armed Police Force, Bishnu Prasad Bhatt, remarked that all four security agencies were working in utmost collaboration to bolster security situation. “In various places, we have been deployed to foil anti-election activities,” APF Spokesperson Bhatt indicated that additional security measures were taken in line with the integrated security plan following a comprehensive analysis of the information.

Armed Police posts have been established in all 165 constituencies. Regular patrol teams are active in all regions since February 19, he said.(RSS)
