BARCELONA:- The ‘Nepal Tourism Promotion Program’ in Barcelona, Spain, has concluded with grandeur, including Nepali songs, music, dance, and cultural exhibitions.
The ‘Nepal Tourism Promotion Program’ was concluded with grandeur on Sunday, organized by the Nepali Janapragatisheel Manch Spain and in collaboration with the Cultural Department of the Barcelona Municipality.
At the event organized at the premises of the world-famous tourist attraction, the Sagrada Familia, Nepalis dressed in Daura-Suruwal, Dhaka Topi, and Bhadgaunle Topi, hoisting the Nepali flag, enlivened the atmosphere with original cultural performances.
Similarly, Nepali dressed in traditional Nepali costumes including Chaubandi Cholo, Gunyu-Faria, Haku Patasi, Ghalek, and ornaments like Naugedi, Shirphool, Tilhari, Jhumka, and Bulinki presented Nepali culture and identity. Children from Nepali Pathshala Barcelona enlivened the program by performing attractive dances to original songs and music.
Expressing his best wishes at the event, Charge d’Affaires of the Nepali Embassy in Spain, Purak Adhikari, pointed out the need for unity among the Nepali community and preservation of cultural identity.
Stating that the small Nepali community has recently expanded to a large number, he said that unity among the Nepali community is now even more necessary.
Ernesto Carrión Sablich, a Member of the Parliament of Catalonia, said that such programs would make a significant contribution to unity, harmony and tourism promotion among the Nepali community. He expressed his commitment to always support the welfare of Nepali immigrants and wished for the preservation and promotion of the Nepali language, culture and traditions.
Forum President Bishal Dhungana said that the program promoted Nepali art, culture and identity to the world. He thanked all the organizations, Nepal Tourism Board, Nepali Embassy family, artists and viewers who participated in the program and expected similar cooperation and unity in the coming days. Forum Vice President Europe and Head of Organization Department Ganga Bhusal mentioned that the activism of Nepali expatriates has contributed to the development of Nepal’s tourism.
General Secretary of the Forum, Dhiraj Sharma, expressed his gratitude to all the participants of the program and pledged to organize more effective programs in the coming days. Advisor Dinesh Giri said that the program has made a significant contribution to the promotion of tourism in Nepal.
The Forum has been organizing such programs twice a year since 2017, on the occasion of New Year and Dashain-Tihar. Brochures and information centers providing information on major tourist destinations in Nepal were also placed at the program.
Tamu Samaj, Magar Samaj, Mona Spain, Tamang Samaj, Newar Samaj and Nepali Pathshala Parivar presented cultural tableaus in their respective costumes. The presence of Newari Kumari became a special attraction in the program.
On the occasion, personalities who contributed to the rights and interests of Nepalis and the campaign against labor exploitation and employment promotion, including Keshav Raj Kandel, Vice President of the Forum, Kesar Bahadur Thapa, President of Nepal Samaj Association Costa Blanca, and Sonal Pun, were specially honored.
The program, which was organized by the program coordinator Govinda Adhikari, advisory coordinator Krishnahari Kandel, and patron Shyam Prasad Khanal, saw significant participation from representatives of various organizations and the Nepali community in Spain.
The program was conducted by the patron and Europe Secretary of the Nepali Janapragatisheel Manch, Arjun Acharya, and artist Sami Gurung.
