Shekhar Koirala’s reply to Gagan, ‘No information about the seven-point proposal’

“As per the rumors circulating outside, Dr. Shekhar Koirala and his secretariat have not received any information from anywhere regarding the seven-point proposal sent by the Nepali Congress establishment party for consensus,” the secretariat said. “No one should be fooled by such fabricated, fictitious and misleading information.”

KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress establishment party has denied claims that it presented a seven-point proposal for consensus to senior leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala after meeting him.

The Secretariat has also clarified the recent meetings with Dr. Koirala. It is mentioned that after the formation of a new working committee from the special general convention of the Nepali Congress, leader Pradeep Poudel and Gagan Kumar Thapa reached the Secretariat in Bishalnagar on 22 Chaitra 2082 and 22 Baisakh 2083 and met with Dr. Koirala.

‘After that, there has been no communication or contact with anyone,’ the Secretariat has stated.

Earlier, Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma, while talking to the media, had said that the seven-point proposal prepared by the establishment party for a consensus had been presented to Dr. Shekhar Koirala after meeting him. Following Sharma’s statement, discussions began within the Congress about a new balance of power and a possible consensus.

But the Shekhar faction’s outright rejection of the proposal has created further confusion about the internal dialogue and consensus efforts within the Congress. On the one hand, the establishment faction is lying about the initiative for consensus, while on the other hand, the Koirala faction has said that no such formal proposal has been received.

The conflicting statements from both sides have further exposed the internal distrust within the Congress.

Earlier, the party establishment had also lied about meeting the outgoing acting president of the party, Purna Bahadur Khadka. Khadka had also said on social media that he had not met any party official for a month.

Party President Thapa has been accused of making every decision based on the reaction after the media trial.
