KATHMANDU:- The government has unveiled the draft of the ‘national commitment’ for feedback.

The 18-point commitment includes major ideas on different issues as expressed by the six national parties in their election manifestos for HoR poll held on March 5.

The commitment has been posted at the website of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. Feedback has been requested from the six political parties on the commitment by 23 April.

The commitment has been prepared as per the provision in point no. 3 of the 100-point agenda related to governance reform adopted through the first meeting of the Council of Ministers on 27 March, where it is stipulated that a synthesis of pledges of the political parties in election would be made and included in the government policy and programme for implementation.

Key priority areas outlined in this national commitment include economic stability and reforms, respect and self-sufficiency in agro production, tourism and civil aviation, energy development and utilization, mining and minerals, infrastructure development, employment as the foundation of prosperity, education and health, forests, environment and climate change, among others.

Similarly, the commitment also includes good governance and anti-corruption, administrative reform and service delivery, electronic governance and technology, social justice and inclusion, international diplomacy and foreign relations, utilization of the knowledge, skills and capital of the Nepali diaspora, sports, disaster management, cooperatives and microfinance.

Issues included in the election manifestos of the political parties that have been recognized as national parties as per the vote strength gained in the HoR election held on March 5 are synthesised.

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML), Nepali Communist Party (NCP), Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) have been recognized as national parties through the HoR poll.
