KATHMANDU:- The 115th International Coordination Council (ICC) meeting of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has made public the budget for the upcoming term and appointed five members to the Guardian Council.
A statement issued on Thursday states that the meeting held virtually on June 13 and 14 took 14 decisions on various issues for the internal management, financial transparency and organizational unity of the association. The meeting, chaired by President Hemraj Sharma, was also broadcast live on Facebook for the first time in the history of NRNA, said spokesperson Somnath Sapkota.
The meeting unanimously approved a budget plan of Rs 53.763 crore for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. This budget will be spent mainly on the operation of the association’s secretariat, administrative work, and project implementation of various departments.
To strictly enforce financial governance, the meeting has given a deadline of two weeks to the office bearers and ICC members to pay the levy and nomination fee. It has been decided to remove the names of those who do not pay the fee within this time from the official website of the association. In addition, the treasurer and finance team have been instructed to make the financial report public every three months.
The meeting took concrete steps to manage the conflicting National Coordination Councils (NCCs). The merger of the parallel NCCs in the Netherlands and Denmark was approved, while two groups in Qatar, France, Belgium, Malta, Malaysia and Thailand were also taken into the merger process on condition of paying fees.
NCCs in the US, Portugal, UAE, Kuwait and South Korea have been instructed to hold the Unity Convention by July 31. Roshan Thapa, Dinesh Ghimire, Anuja Pradhan, Rajendra Aryal, Parasmani Pokharel and Mohammad Muktada Musalman have been assigned special responsibility to coordinate in these countries.
The association has set new criteria for nominations to vacant ICC positions. Now, the appointees must have no legal or financial irregularities and must have fulfilled all obligations to the organization. The association has set a strategic goal of giving 70 percent of the positions in its structure to women, youth and experts.
It has also been decided to give priority to candidates who could not be appointed due to special circumstances at the 12th General Convention and to give due place to NCC presidents who resigned for unity.
The meeting also decided to continue cooperation with international organizations. The meeting has approved agreements with the Red Cross, Chamber of Commerce and the ‘We Will Rise’ Foundation.
