LALITPUR:- Former Home Minister and Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak has said the demands raised during Gen-Z protest are the demands of all Nepalis.
He made it clear that the then government had no policy at all to suppress the protest waged by the Gen-Z people on September 8 and 9.
Talking to media persons after attending the central office bearers’ meeting at party office, Sanepa on Friday, leader Lekhak said the judicial probe commission needs to investigate the issues fairly. The probe commission can not go beyond democratic framework and constitution while carrying out its mandate, according to him.
He further said the Gen-Z’s demands of good governance and corruption control were the demands of all Nepalis. But it was sad to see the Gen-Z’s protest infiltrated. It was horrible incident.
“I had resigned as Home Minister on the very first day of Gen-Z protest. It was worrying to see the attacks and arsons on numerous public infrastructures,” former Home Minister reminded.
He suggests moving ahead in a judicious manner rather than on acting on impulse and biasness. “Currently, not only in Nepali Congress but also in the country, unity is imperative. A broader dialogue is essential to address the demands put forth by the Gen-Z people,” Lekhak viewed. (RSS)
