CHITWAN:- Rabi Lamichhane has been elected unopposed as the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
According to Ram Gurung, deputy head of the party’s Central Election Commission, Lamichhane was elected unopposed as he was the only candidate for the post of president. Lamichhane had registered his nomination with senior leader Balen Shah as the proposer.
After the nominations were filed, Lamichhane and Shah appeared at the veranda of the Election Commission Secretariat and greeted the delegates.
Meanwhile, the election process for the post of central member under the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is ongoing. According to the revised election schedule, the final list of candidates has been published after completing the processes related to candidacy registration, claims and objections, investigation and withdrawal of candidacy, according to the Election Commission.
According to the third revised schedule issued by the commission chief Bhuwan KC, the silence period has begun with the publication of the final list. It is stated that voting for the post of central member will be held from Wednesday morning.
The election schedule states that the counting of votes will begin two hours after the completion of voting and the results will be announced. The commission has stated that the second phase of the election process will be taken forward to select the office bearers after the results of the first phase are made public.
According to the amended statute, the central committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will have 158 members. Of these, 99 will be elected through elections.
