Cloudy conditions in hills, hot weather likely in parts of Tarai

KATHMANDU:- Weather conditions across the country are currently being influenced by a westerly low-pressure trough, local winds and easterly winds in the upper atmosphere, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The weather is expected to remain party to generally across the hilly and mountainous areas today, while parts of the Tarai in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces are likely to witness hot daytime conditions, stated the Weather Forecasting Division.

The weather service said light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, and at isolated locations in Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

Light snowfall is also possible in some high-altitude areas, the weather service predicted.

In the Tarai, the weather service has forecast that skies will remain partly cloudy in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces, while weather conditions in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim are likely to stay mostly fair.

Tonight, partly to generally cloudy conditions are expected to persist in the hilly regions, with chances of scattered rainfall at a few places.
