Nepali Congress demands implementation of Human Rights Commission report

-

KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress has demanded the implementation of the investigation report on the Bhadra 23-24 agitation made public by the National Human Rights Commission.

A statement issued by party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said that the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission formed by the then government further confirmed the view that it was incomplete, incomplete and unclear.

The statement also states that the National Human Rights Commission has stated that a thorough investigation is needed even against the chairman of the Karki Commission, raising questions about the impartiality of the commission.

The statement also states that the suspicion of the Nepali Congress that there is a deliberate intention in not making the report public before the election has been further strengthened.

The report states that while the initial phase of the movement was related to constitutional rights, it later turned into planned violent activities, arson, murder, looting, and attacks on public and private property. The Congress has demanded that anyone involved in violent activities be held accountable without political patronage.

The failure of the state machinery and the excessive use of force by the security forces have also been pointed out by the commission as human rights violations, and it has been emphasized that legal action should be taken against the culprits.

Similarly, the Congress has also demanded that the government accept its responsibility and make public its official position regarding the recommendations of the National Human Rights Commission.
