LOS ANGELES:- The number of Nepali students studying in the United States has declined significantly in the past three months. According to the latest data released by SEVIS, there has been a decrease of nearly 500 Nepali students in the past three months.
The total number of students in March was 34,853, but in April this number decreased to 34,680. In May, it further decreased to 34,366. This means that 314 Nepali students have decreased in May compared to April. Currently, 281 Nepali students are studying in language classes.
Texas is the top choice
On a state-by-state basis, Texas has become the top choice for Nepali students. According to statistics, there are 8,208 Nepali students studying in Texas alone. The number of Nepali students studying in Texas was 8,310 in April, but there was a slight decline in May.
Ohio is in second place after Texas, with 2,400 Nepali students studying. Ohio also had 2,420 Nepali students in April, but the number has decreased in May. Similarly, New York has 2,336 Nepali students in May, down from 2,341 in April. These three states are seen as the main educational destinations for Nepali students.
Male students outnumber male students
When analyzed by educational level and gender, out of a total of 34,366 students, 19,091 were male and 15,475 were female.
Most Nepalis have come to the US for higher education, with 12,004 Nepali students studying at the bachelor’s level, down from 12,117 in April. Similarly, 9,747 Nepali students are studying at the master’s level, down from 9,832 in April.
Similarly, 7,746 people are studying for associate degrees, up from 7,825 in April. 4,272 are studying for doctorates; up from 4,273 in April.
