ICC World Cup League-2: Nepal defeats Scotland Sandeep, who is also the former captain of the Nepali team, has set the world record for the fastest player to take 150 wickets.

KATHMANDU:- Nepal has comfortably defeated Scotland in a match in which Nepali leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane set a world record.

Nepal defeated Scotland by 6 wickets on Monday in the ongoing ICC World Cup League-2 at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur. With the win, Nepal has climbed to fifth place in the league with 22 points from 27 matches.

Nepal was previously in seventh place. Defeated Scotland is at the top with 38 points from 31 matches. The other team in this series, USA, is in second place with 36 points from 26 matches. Nepal will play the final match of this series against USA on the 8th.

Chasing a target of 195 runs to win, Nepal achieved the target by scoring 199 runs for the loss of four wickets in 38.1 overs.

For Nepal, captain Rohit Kumar Poudel and Ishan Pandey played half-century innings. Rohit scored an unbeaten 74 runs. He hit five fours and two sixes in 98 balls. This match is Rohit’s 12th half-century in his career.

Similarly, Ishan Pandey scored 55 runs in 61 balls with the help of five fours and two sixes. Opener Ashif Sheikh scored 29 and Kushal Bhurtel scored 28 runs.

Arif Sheikh was out for eight not out and Dipendra Singh Airey for two. Scotland’s Mark Watt took two wickets and Brandon McMullen took one wicket.

Earlier, Scotland, who had won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 194 runs for the loss of all wickets in 39.1 overs.

Brandon Cacmullen top-scored for Scotland with 73 runs. He hit 6 fours and 6 sixes in 44 balls. Michael English scored 51, George Munsey 21 and Mark Watt 20.

Nepal’s Lalit Rajbanshi took four wickets in the bowling. Sandeep Lamichhane took three and Dipendra Singh Airee, Sompal Kami and Nandan Yadav took one wicket each.

Lalit Rajbanshi was named Player of the Match. With three wickets in this match, Sandeep set a world record in One Day International cricket.

Sandeep, who is also the former captain of the Nepali team, has set the world record for the fastest player to take 150 wickets.
