LONDON:- The Kitab Yatra Foundation has honored Nabin Pokharel, who is professional journalist in the Nepalese’s diasporic community, with the Kitab Jatra Diaspora Journalism Award.
Pokharel and other personalities were honored during the second UK edition of the Kitab Jatra Festival, organized at the Embassy building in collaboration with the Nepali Embassy in London.
Journalist Pokharel was jointly presented the award by Ambassador Chandra Kumar Ghimire and senior media personality Tikaram Yatri. Pokharel, who has been writing news about the different diasporic issues, has 25 years of experience in the field of journalism.
Pokharel had previously worked in media outlets like Kantipur Daily, Rajdhani Daily, and Deshantar Weekly. Pokharel is the founding president of the UK branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists.
A permanent resident of Sundarbazar Municipality-7, Lamjung, he has been highlighting various aspects of the Nepali community in the UK through news reporting in his journalism career.
Rishi Ram Adhikari, director of the organizing Kitav Yatra Foundation, explained that the main objectives of the program are to make reading culture an integral part of people’s lives, exhibit books, promote entrepreneurship, and honor artists.
Adhikari said that apart from the literary festival, the foundation has also built libraries in 20 different places in Nepal and provided scholarships to meritorious students.
