BOSTON:- The Massachusetts State Committee of Blood Donors of America has held its first convention in Braintree, Massachusetts, near Boston.
At the convention held at the Pashupatinath Buddha Foundation building, Dr. Smriti Baskota of Harvard University gave an educational presentation with a video on ‘Blood is the lifeline behind every important surgery.’
Dr. Harikrishna Baskota delved into the history of blood donation, saying that the blood donation made by Daya Bir Singh Kansakar in 1940 in Nepal is considered the first blood donation.
While presenting certificates of membership to the lifetime members present, the chief guest Pant requested everyone to become a lifetime member of Blood Donors of America and to support them by visiting its website.
The new working committee, formed under the chairmanship of Chairman Ram Thapa and consisting of the following 23 members, was announced by Birochan Nepal, Central Vice President of Blood Donors of America, for the period 2025 to 2027.
The program was presided over by the organization’s president, Ram Thapa. The convention was attended by Maheshwar Pant, Central President of Blood Donors of America, as the chief guest, Birochan Nepal, Central Vice President of Blood Donors of America, as the special guest, and Prahlad KC, Honorary Consul of the Government of Nepal.
