WASHINGTON:- The Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC) celebrated its 25th anniversary with grandeur at Seneca Valley High School, Maryland.

The event, organized with the main slogan “Preserving Culture  “Empowering Generations,” saw a significant presence of members of the Nepali community, representatives of local governments, and various guests.

The program began with the recitation of Swasti by the Pandit. This was followed by a formal opening with a Bandana dance performed by American-born girls, immersing the gathering in a spiritual and cultural atmosphere.

At the inaugural ceremony, former presidents of the Association of Nepalis in America (ANA) Dr. Harihar Sharma, Dr. Shyamdhoj Karki, and Krishna Niraula, along with senior social worker Ram Malakar, jointly lit the lamp and formally inaugurated the program.

This symbolic inauguration held the significance of connecting the past, present, and future of the organization. NECC President Prajwal Regmi welcomed all the guests and recalled the organization’s 25-year journey.

He said, “This achievement is the result of our collective hard work and cooperation. In the future as well, NECC is determined to connect the new generation with culture and further empower the community.”

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich presented the NCC president with a certificate of honor. He said, “This county used to be predominantly white, but now we have a significant Asian presence.”

The outgoing chairmen of NECC, Dr. Mahendra Karki, Saroj Prajapati, and Khilendra Mani Neupane, proudly accepted the award, saying that the community’s contribution was a shared achievement.

At the event, NECC’s accountant Laxman Pradhan presented a detailed account of the organization’s income and expenditure, emphasizing transparency and accountability.

Nepali musical dances presented as part of the cultural presentation captured the attention of the audience. The dances, songs, and art performances highlighted the diversity and beauty of Nepali culture.

On the eve of the anniversary, a mass Shanti Kalash Yatra and Rudri Puja were organized at the NECC Temple on 8 November 2025.

The 25th anniversary of NECC thus provided an opportunity to bring the Nepali community together to preserve culture, unite the community, and inspire future generations. The local government’s recognition has further strengthened the organization’s contribution.
