LISBON:- More than 100 Nepali passport applications have been collected from Faro, Portugal, for the creation of electronic passports (e-passports).
Applications for electronic passports, along with biometric details, of 120 Nepalis were collected from a two-day mobile camp on passport renewal and document verification (consular services) conducted by the Nepali Embassy in Lisbon.
Team leader and First Secretary of the Nepali Embassy in Lisbon, Ram Babu Nepal, informed that the camp provided services to approximately 200 Nepalis by renewing 120 passports, verifying 28 police character certificates, and verifying 36 other documents.
According to him, the camp has collected revenue of 18,515 euros, or 3.02 million rupees. He said that Nepali service recipients have benefited from the camp, which was conducted for the first time as part of a plan to address the problems related to passports and other documents seen in the Algarve region. Nepal said that service recipients expressed their happiness, saying that they were relieved to receive the embassy’s services in Faro through the mobile camp.
The camp, which was held for two days, collected applications for expired, damaged, lost, and electronic passports for children, and provided services related to document verification, including police reports.
The embassy has stated that Nepalis residing in Lagos, Faro, Albufeira, Portimao, Vilamoura, Tavira and other areas have availed services at the camp. The embassy’s First Secretary Nepal, Third Secretary Anil Rana and a team of local staff were deployed at the camp.
Nepali Ambassador to Portugal Prakash Mani Poudel said that services have been provided through mobile camps for the convenience of Nepalis in the Algarve region who are facing problems in document verification, including passport renewal and police report verification.
Ambassador Poudel said that in the coming days, the embassy plans to operate mobile camps as needed to provide services for the convenience of Nepalis living in various areas outside Lisbon.
