Heavy rain reported in various places, mercury in Bhirahawa reaches 41.5 degrees Celsius

KATHMANDU:- While heavy rain continues in various parts of the country, the temperature in the Tarai region has also risen sharply.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, heavy rainfall occurred in Gorkha, Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa in the last 24 hours. Gorkha received 71.8 mm, Morang 61.8 mm, Sunsari 51.4 mm, and Jhapa 71.2 mm of rain.

More than 103 millimetres of rain was recorded in Jhapa yesterday. When there was heavy rain in that district, temperatures were rising in other parts of the country, according to Dinakar Kayastha, the Department’s Information Officer.

According to the department’s latest records, the temperature in Bhairahawa has reached 41.5 degrees Celsius. Similarly, the temperature in Nepalgunj is 40.4 degrees. Dhangadhi has recorded 38.8 degrees. Temperatures have risen in other districts as well.

The temperature in Kathmandu has also risen to 31.3 degrees Celsius. According to the spokesperson of the Department of Meteorology, Kayastha, today there is a possibility of a hot day in Dhangadhi, Birendranagar, Nepalgunj, Ghorahi, Bhairahawa and Simara.

It is reported that the western low-pressure line in the upper atmosphere, local winds and eastern winds are also partially affecting Nepal.

According to the weather bulletin issued by the department today, the Himalayan and hilly areas of the country will generally be cloudy today, while the Tarai areas of Koshi and Madhesh provinces will be partly cloudy.
