KATHMANDU:- The Department of Foreign Employment has intensified its efforts to control fraud in the foreign employment sector and address issues concerning migrant workers.

According to the Department, on June 17 alone, 29 complaints were registered with its Case and Investigation Section.

According to the latest update, 29 arrest warrants were issued, while nine were apprehended and presented before the authorities.

Similarly, nine cases were settled through mutual agreement, and 68 official documents, including letters to banks, charge sheets, and recommendation letters have been dispatched, the Department said.

Likewise, the Institutional Monitoring Section has dispatched five correspondences to recruitment agencies and issued 16 passports.

Under the relief and rescue efforts, six have been rescued, while two have been provided with compensation. The section also registered 10 new complaints, facilitating 13 two-party discussions and providing counselling services in 15 cases.

It is said that nine out of 11 complaints lodged through the Hello Sarkar, a government portal for receiving and addressing public grievances, were addressed promptly. Similarly, of the 47 complaints registered through the Department’s call center, 29 have already been sorted out , while the remaining 18 are in the process of settlement.

The Department has suggested an additional procedure, while filing complaints seeking relief and rescue through the secretariat of Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment Ramjee Yadav, and via WhatsApp.

It says that submitting complaints along with official documents and other necessary supporting documents would help make relief and rescue operations more effective.
