KATHMANDU:- Lawmakers have called for proper food and housing for landless people staying in holding centres across the Kathmandu Valley.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Shram Sanskriti Party lawmaker Harka Raj Rai urged the government to ensure adequate food and shelter for landless people kept in various holding centres in the Kathmandu Valley. He also sought clarification from the Prime Minister over recent remarks on the Nepal–India border.

Nepali Communist Party lawmaker Gopal Sharma reminded the government that the Constitution makes it accountable to Parliament. He also called for a ruling from the Speaker seeking clarification from the Prime Minister on his comments regarding the Nepal–India border. Sharma further expressed concern over what he described as irresponsible remarks made by some ministers.

CPN-UML lawmaker Kripa Ram Rana said no one is above the nation and stressed that those staying in holding centres must be treated humanely.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Chandra Mohan Yadav also demanded clarification and correction from the Prime Minister over his statement on the Nepal–India border, and called for a fair role from the Speaker.

RSP lawmaker Ganesh Karki drew attention to Yadav’s remarks concerning the Speaker’s role.
