RSP President Lamichhane meets Indian Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi

NEW DELHI:-  A high-level delegation led by the President of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, who is on an official visit to India, met with Indian Home Minister Amit Shah today.

It is reported that important discussions were held on mutual interests, border security, and various dimensions of diplomatic relations between the two countries during the meeting held at the Home Ministry in New Delhi.

Following high-level talks with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, President Lamichhane met Home Minister Shah, who is considered a powerful figure in Indian politics.

During the meeting, it is said that discussions were held on the security challenges that may arise due to the open border between Nepal and India, control of intra-state crime, and further strengthening of bilateral security mechanisms.

In his conversation with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) delegation, Indian Home Minister Shah stated that India has always been positive about the stability and development of Nepal and emphasized that both countries should work together on matters of border security and security concerns.

President Lamichhane had expressed the view that the traditional and people-to-people relations between Nepal and India should be further strengthened in line with modern needs. He conveyed the message to the Indian side that as a new political party, the Nepali Congress Party (NSWP) wants to maintain balanced and constructive relations with neighboring countries for the prosperity of Nepal.

Other leaders of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) participating in the delegation also expressed the view that it would be appropriate to resolve the pending diplomatic issues between the two countries through dialogue.

This visit to India by RSP President Lamichhane and the continuous high-level meetings taking place in New Delhi are being viewed with great importance in political and diplomatic circles. This meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, known as the chief charioteer of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is being analyzed as further strengthening the RSP’s diplomatic relations and identity at the international level.
