KATHMANDU:- The influence of a westerly low-pressure system is expected to bring rainfall and thunderstorms to several parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

The Division said the Himalayan and hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are currently experiencing generally cloudy conditions. Moderate rainfall is occurring in some areas of Lumbini Province, while light rain has been reported in parts of Gandaki and Karnali.

This afternoon, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the Himalayan and hilly regions, with partly cloudy conditions in the Terai. Moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

The Division has also forecast thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the Terai region of Madhesh Province and in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, the Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces are expected to remain generally cloudy, while the hilly and Terai areas of Lumbini Province will see partly cloudy skies. Light rain or snowfall is possible in some Himalayan and hilly areas of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as at a few locations in Koshi and Bagmati provinces.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged the public, particularly in parts of the Terai region of Lumbini Province, to remain alert and stay updated on weather conditions due to the possibility of thunderstorms.
