KATHMANDU:- The Nepali women’s cricket team has reached the semi-finals of the Asian Games Women’s Cricket Qualifiers after defeating Indonesia in Group ‘B’.
Nepal reached the semi-finals of the tournament after defeating Indonesia by four wickets in the match played today at the Bayumas Oval Cricket Ground in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This is Nepal’s second consecutive win in the tournament. In the previous match, Nepal had won by a whopping 19 runs against China. In today’s match, Indonesia had given Nepal a target of 114 runs to win. In reply, Nepal completed the match in 19.3 overs, losing 6 wickets.
For Nepal, captain Indu Verma played a crucial innings of 42 not out. Soni Pakharin scored 29 and Sita Ranamagar batted aggressively in the final innings, scoring 13 not out in 6 balls. Earlier, Indonesia, which won the toss and elected to bat first, scored 113 runs for the loss of four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Indonesian captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini scored 56 not out. Similarly, Ni Luh Devi contributed 23 runs.
On the bowling front, Manisha Upadhyaya bowled brilliantly for Nepal, taking two wickets for nine runs in four overs. Similarly, Riya Sharma took one wicket. Indu Verma, who performed brilliantly in the match, was declared the Player of the Match.
