KATHMANDU:- Chairman KP Sharma Oli and General Secretary Shankar Pokharel have been given the responsibility to finalize the proposal for the division of work among the central members of the CPN (UML). Keeping in mind the local level elections to be held next year, the UML has given the central member the responsibility of being in-charge of the local level and mass organizations.
Taking into account the suggestions received on the proposal presented at the secretariat meeting held at UML Chairman Oli’s residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, General Secretary Pokharel decided to make necessary modifications in consultation with the Chairman and the Chairman will finalize it and send a circular, informed Deputy General Secretary Lekhraj Bhatta. Chairman Oli had addressed the last day of the three-day meeting and urged to maintain unity in the party.
Bhatta informed that the meeting decided to form a task force under the coordination of party vice-chairman Ram Bahadur Thapa to further study issues including party reorganization and review of the House of Representatives elections and make suggestions within a month. The committee will include vice-chairmen Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Prithvisubba Gurung, general secretary Pokharel, deputy general secretary Bhatta, secretaries Chhabiraj Bishwakarma, Padma Aryal, Bhanubhakta Dhakal and in-charges of eight provinces, said leader Bhatta.
Deputy Secretary General Bhatta informed that the secretariat meeting decided to construct the party’s central office building on its own land in Madannagar, Balkhu, as the party’s office building was damaged in the 2072 BS earthquake and had to be operated in various places. The party’s central committee meeting is scheduled to be held in the second week of Ashar.
