KATHMANDU:- The government has decided to form a high-level investigation committee within a week to probe the September 9 incident linked to the Gen Z movement.
According to the decision, the committee will be tasked with collecting and analysing all relevant details, identifying those responsible and submitting its report within a set timeframe. The government has stated that further action will be taken based on the panel’s findings.
The reform agenda also notes that legal investigations, actions, and prosecutions against those found guilty will proceed in line with existing laws, based on the report of the Gauri Bahadur Karki-led commission that had earlier examined the events surrounding the movement.
In addition, the government has outlined plans to restore justice, rehabilitation and public trust for those affected by the incidents. As part of this effort, authorities will verify the data of victims, including families of those killed and the injured.
An employment support package is also set to be announced within 100 days, aiming to ensure livelihood security, social protection and dignified rehabilitation through opportunities in government, public and private sectors based on eligibility.
The government said the measures are intended to address the impact of the incidents and strengthen confidence in state institutions.
