SKOKIE, IL:- Congressional candidate Bushra Amiwala earned an endorsement from a pillar of the faith community in Illinois’ 9th district. Rev. Jason W. Coulter, senior minister at the First Congregational Church of Evanston, endorses Amiwala for Congress.
Under Rev. Coulter’s leadership, the First Congregational Church welcomes everyone to its inclusive congregation. The church is grounded in the radical inclusivity of God’s love. It is also committed to protecting undocumented immigrants from deportation and shielding their families from hardship.
“I am voting for Bushra Amiwala for the 9th district seat because she possesses a keen intelligence, is a person of great integrity and has an infectious passion for social justice,” said Rev. Jason W. Coulter, a resident of Rogers Park. “When I met Bushra, I was moved by her story and impressed with her platform. I believe Illinois is ready to send a member of Generation Z to Washington. It’s time to change our politics and restore our democracy. Bushra is the right person for a time such as this!”
Amiwala will continue to work with faith leaders across the district to advance initiatives of equity and almsgiving.
“Our district has more places of worship per capita than any other in Illinois. Connecting with faith leaders could not be more crucial to representing this community,” said Bushra Amiwala, a member of the Skokie Board of Education. “As a person of faith, I could not be happier to have earned the recognition of Rev. Coulter. He is among the district’s remarkable faith leaders. It’s an honor to work alongside him to make IL-09 a more just and welcoming place.”
