Nepali community participate in North Carolina’s Happy Holidays Parade

NORTH CAROLINA:-  On Saturday morning, Nepalis in Holly spring, near Raleigh, North Carolina, showed their identity by waving a flag of Nepal.

Nepalis living in North Carolina participated for the first time in the Happy Holidays Parade, organized by the Town of Hollyspring each year shortly before Christmas.

During the event, Nepalis performed a musical instruments Madal and a ‘Lakhe’ Newari cultural dance was also organized.

Around 100 Nepalis participated in the parade. The parade was accompanied by Nepali dance, songs and lacquer dance, which was welcomed by thousands of local residents who lined both sides of the road.

Most of the Nepali participants wore Nepali national dress Daura Suruwal and women wore Saree and Cholo. The parade covered a distance of about two kilometers.

NCNC President Bikash Shakya said, “Although only a few Nepalis attended, we plan to participate regularly from now on.”

82 groups from various local organizations, schools, hospitals, churches, vehicles, dance halls, etc. participated in the parade. Holy spring Town has thanked all the participants.

Carol, who attended the parade, said that the parade was very grand and she is grateful for the love and goodwill shown by the residents here.
