BARCELONA:-  The campaign to build a ‘Nepal House (Temple)’ has gained momentum in Barcelona, Spain. With the aim of giving substance to the campaign to build a ‘Temple’ and raising financial resources, the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Spain is planning to organize the ‘Spain Spiritual Festival’ coming April.

The festival, which will be held at the Salon El Prado (C/Almirante Kendo 49) in Barcelona from 5 to 9 April 2026, will feature the prominent presence of renowned orator Pandit Deenbandhu Pokharel. The organizers have stated that Pandit Pokharel will deliver a sermon based on the Shrimad Bhagwat Mahapuran as well as important aspects of the Vedas and Buddhist philosophy.

Speaking at the recently concluded festival announcement meeting, Pandit Pokharel emphasized that spirituality should not be limited to religion or rituals but should be understood as an art of living. According to him, the Shrimad Bhagwat shows the path of moral life, while the Vedas clarify the relationship between nature and consciousness. Similarly, he argued that Buddhist philosophy highlights the need for peace and compassion in modern life. “Such discussions are even more necessary for one’s mental and spiritual health, along with physical development, while living in exile,” he said.

The process of raising financial support to make the festival a success has also begun. Akkal Bohra, through the Akkal Kopila Foundation, has provided the main sponsorship for the festival by providing a contribution of 2000 euros in memory of his mother Gori Bohra and father-in-law Ramji Lama. Similarly, as premium sponsors, Devraj Sapkota (Sunrise Restaurant) and Mukunda Lamichhane (Group of Kathmandu) have provided 1200 euros and 1200 euros, respectively. The organizers believe that this initial support will go a long way in realizing the dream of building a ‘Nepal Ghar’.

The concept of ‘Nepal Ghar’ has been introduced with the long-term goal of having a religious, cultural and social center of its own for the Nepali community in Spain. This festival is expected to be not just a religious ritual but also an important stepping stone to unite the Nepali community and create a common ground.

Program coordinator and NRNA Spain President Santosh Shrestha has made a heartfelt appeal to all Nepalis scattered across Spain to join hands in this great campaign and earn merit by participating in the festival.
