KATHMANDU:- Police have arrested seven protesters who took to the streets opposing the detention of CPN (UML) Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Spokesperson of the District Police Office Kathmandu, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, said that they were arrested after trying to enter the restricted area at Singha Durbar. According to him, some protesters had burned tyres to demonstrate in Babarmahal.
During this, there was a scuffle with the police. Some protesters were also injured when police charged with batons. When the protesters became agitated, one tear gas cell was used to control the situation, Bhattarai said.
Following Chairman Oli’s detention earlier this morning, UML activists went out to demonstrate as per the party’s decision. UML activists held protests at Maitighar, Babarmahal and in front of the South Gate of Singha Durbar in Kathmandu. RSS
