Chaite Dashain-2026 festival concludes in Tokyo

TOKYO:- Chaite Dashain festival -2026, organized targeting the Nepali community in Japan, has concluded. The two-day fair, organized by Baglung Samaj Japan, has established its identity as an event of special religious, cultural and social importance, according to the organizers.

Organized with the aim of preserving Nepali traditions, culture and identity abroad, the fair was attended by a significant number of Nepali community members. The fair was organized with the aim of promoting the religious, cultural and historical identity of Baglung district in Japan, uniting Nepalis living abroad and introducing the new generation to the original culture.

Various cultural programs, folk dance performances, traditional sports, and Nepali cuisine were the special attractions of the fair. The active participation of invited artists from Nepal and local artists made the program more lively.

The replica of the Baglung Kalika Temple and the tiger statue built at the fair site attracted special attention from the audience, while the traditional tableau and costumes created a sense of Nepali identity.

On this occasion, folk and duet singer Surya Khadka has been awarded the ‘Baglung Ratna Samman’ in recognition of his contribution to the field of Nepali folk duet while living in Japan. Khadka, a permanent resident of Dhamja, Kathekhola Rural Municipality-Dhamja, Baglung, was presented with a certificate of honor and a token of love by being draped in a special ceremony at the fair. Khadka, who has been living in Japan for a long time, has been playing an important role in the preservation and expansion of Nepali original folk duet songs and music.

According to Baglung Society Japan, the objective of the ‘Baglung Ratna Samman’ is to encourage individuals from the district who have made significant contributions to various fields. The organizers believe that the successful conclusion of the fair has further strengthened Nepali culture and unity in Japan.
