KATHMANDU:- Rainfall was recorded in various parts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, on Monday evening due to the influence of a westerly low-pressure system combined with local winds.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Kathmandu received 18.8 mm of rainfall, while Lalitpur recorded 15.4 mm and Bhaktapur 16.4 mm. Nuwakot witnessed the highest rainfall in the six hours with 34.2 mm, followed by Sindhupalchowk with 21.8 mm, said Information Officer Dinkar Kayastha.

The department stated that hilly and mountainous regions, including Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, remained generally cloudy, while the rest of the country saw partly cloudy conditions. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning was reported in Gandaki Province, parts of the hilly areas of Bagmati, and scattered locations in other hilly and mountainous regions. Some areas also experienced light snowfall.

For Tuesday, the department has forecast generally cloudy conditions in the hilly and mountainous regions and partly cloudy weather elsewhere. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in these regions, as well as isolated rainfall in the Tarai areas of Koshi Province.
