MORANG:- Officiating Chief Election Commissioner, Ram Prasad Bhandari, reaffirmed that the Election Commission (EC) was dedicated to conducting the upcoming election to the House of Representatives in a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere.
During an interaction organized jointly by EC and the Nepal Law Society on ‘Effective Implementation of Election Code of Conduct and Role of Stakeholders’ in Biratnagar city on Friday, Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari expected cooperation from all relevant sectors to make the March 5 election a historic with increased public participation.
Any individual breaching the election code of conduct would face action, he warned, urging everyone to act within legal remit and procedures throughout the electoral process.
Minister for Internal Affairs and Law in Koshi Province, Indramani Parajuli, reminded the Koshi Province government’s commitment to extending every kind of support to EC in a democratic bid- the HoR election in a free and fair atmosphere.
During the event, an administrative director of the Law Society, Ganesh Man Pradhan, and province election officer Cholaraj Dangal, underscored the value of code of conduct, which they argued, would make elections a credible event.
The programme also witnessed presence of the chiefs of various district security agencies, chief returning officers, election officials, legal experts and representatives from human rights and media fraternity. (RSS)
