Nepalis living in Dubai donate blood on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr

-

UAE:- Nepalis have completed a massive blood donation program in Dubai, UAE, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the great festival of the Muslim community. The Nepali Blood Donors Association UAE, a sister organization of the International Nepali Blood Donors Association, completed this humanitarian work on March 22 in collaboration with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

Even as many scheduled programs are being postponed due to the ongoing tension and fear of war in West Asia, Nepalis have shown courage and continued to donate blood. Sunil Raj Shrestha, patron of the association, said that Nepali blood donors have earned virtue by donating their blood, realizing the glory of charity (zakat) given on the occasion of Eid.

According to the Muslim scriptures, it is a tradition to donate a certain portion of one’s savings to the poor and needy, and the organizers say that this small effort was made for patients facing a blood shortage at a time when there is a tradition of donating a certain portion of one’s savings to the poor and needy. Although the expected number of people could not come due to adverse circumstances, more than 100 people were present. Of these, 62 people registered, 54 successfully donated blood after health screening.

Jagan Adhikari, the coordinator of the program, informed that this was the fifth time that the program was successfully completed in a grand manner, embodying the main mantra of ‘blood donation is life donation’. He expressed gratitude to the blood donors who took time out from far away to participate even when people were caught in the grip of the terrible war in West Asia and were panicking. The Dubai Health Authority has also highly appreciated the activism shown by the Nepalis when many other organizations are canceling programs in the current difficult situation.
