KATHMANDU:- The Nepali Congress has revised the schedule for its 15th general convention, pushing back several key dates following a decision taken at a central committee meeting held on Wednesday. Now the 15th general convention will be held in Kathmandu from October 2 to 5.
According to NC officials, the ward-level conventions will now commence from August 18. A central committee member said the updated timeline was introduced after a comprehensive review of the previously proposed schedule presented at Tuesday’s meeting.
The adjustments extend across all tiers of the party’s organisational structure. The village and municipal conventions have been rescheduled to August 23. Similarly, the provincial assembly constituency level conventions will take place on September 2.
The party has also revised the timeline for House of Representatives (HoR) constituency conventions and district-level gatherings. The HoR constituency conventions will now be conducted on September 9. District conventions in single-seat constituencies will also be held on the same date. Meanwhile, conventions in districts with multiple constituencies have been deferred to September 18 and 19.
At the provincial level, conventions will now be organised on September 23 and 24. Party leaders indicated that the revised schedule aims to ensure better preparation and coordination across all levels of the organisation. They also shifted the dates keeping in mind about the monsoon season and the disturbance it might cause. Party insiders said the changes were necessary to streamline the convention process and accommodate logistical and climate considerations.
On Tuesday, the party had proposed to hold the 15th General Convention from September 9 to 11.
