Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader election process begins

KATHMANDU:-  The election committee formed by the Nepali Congress to select the leader of the parliamentary party in the party’s House of Representatives held discussions with the party’s House of Representatives members today. The election committee, led by Joint General Secretary Prakash Rasaili Snehi, held discussions at the parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Friday.

After the discussion, the coordinator of the election committee, Rasaili, said that they discussed the selection of the party leader today. He informed that this discussion will be continued tomorrow as well. “Today we have started the discussion. The election committee will continue the discussion tomorrow as well,” coordinator Rasaili told the media.

He informed that maximum efforts will be made to achieve internal unity between the party and the MPs.

He informed that the process has also been initiated to amend the party’s statute. He informed that election committee members Muna Bhusal and Raju Katwal are working to amend the statute.

After the meeting, MP Arjun Narsingh KC informed that the party leader will be selected only next week. “We have started the process. If we cannot select by consensus, we will select the leader through elections next week,” MP KC said.

26 MPs spoke in today’s discussion. MP KC said that most of the MPs who spoke complained about the delay in selecting the party leader. The Congress has 38 MPs in the House of Representatives. MPs including KC and Bhishma Raj Angdembe are aspiring for the party leader.
