Nepal Oil Corporation hikes petroleum product prices

-

KATHMANDU:- Nepal Oil Corporation Limited has increased the retail prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene, citing price increases in the international market and pressure from supply management.
According to a press release issued by the Corporation, the new price adjustment will be effective from the morning of Chaitra 1, 2082. After the price adjustment, petrol has been increased by Rs 15 per liter and diesel and kerosene by Rs 10 per liter.
According to the increased price, petrol for the first class has been fixed at Rs 169.50 per liter, while the second class will cost Rs 171 per liter and the third class will cost Rs 172 per liter.
According to the increased prices, diesel and kerosene will cost Rs 141.50 per liter for the first category, Rs 143 per liter for the second category, and Rs 144 per liter for the third category.
According to the Corporation, tensions in the Middle East and West Asia and rising prices of petroleum products in the international market have put pressure on supply management. The Corporation stated that both price adjustment and supply management have become challenging in countries that do not have their own petroleum sources.
The corporation has been purchasing petroleum products from India. The corporation says that prices in Nepal have also had to be adjusted according to the new price list received from the company based on the increased prices in the international market.
