WASHINGTON:- Elias Cepeda, a protester who led a demonstration outside ICE’s Broadview detention center and made hateful posts on social media comparing ICE to Nazis, has been arrested.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement confirming that he was arrested with a loaded gun and several rounds of ammunition.
According to his Linked-in, he is a journalist and is college professor at the University of Illinois.
As part of Operation Midway, ICE arrested Elias Cepeda with a gun he was carrying.

“Elias Cepeda is suspected of having ties to Antifa,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Two days after the attack on the ICE detention center in Dallas, Cepeda brought a loaded gun to the ICE Broadview Detention Center. Law enforcement intervened and arrested Cepeda before he could potentially shoot or kill anyone.”
According to the DHS, there are some extremist posts by Antifa-affiliated protesters, including posts comparing ICE to Nazis and calling for the assassination of ICE officers.
