KATHMANDU:- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised that the 12th General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) be conducted in accordance with its statute and that arrangements be made for online participation and voting for delegates who cannot be physically present.

In a letter sent to the association, the ministry has mentioned that there is a provision under Section 14 and Section 21.10 of the Statute of the Non-Resident Nepali Association 2003 (Amendment 2022) that elections can be held online or physically. It has been clarified that arrangements should be made for online voting for representatives who cannot be physically present.

The letter states, “This ministry is of the opinion that it would be appropriate to move forward the election process of the Non-Resident Nepali Association by ensuring online participation for representatives who are unable to attend as per the law.”

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it is the responsibility of the association to ensure the participation of non-resident Nepalis scattered around the world, and has also urged them to make the necessary technical and managerial preparations accordingly.
