Essential service carriers don’t need pass on election day

KATHMANDU:- The Election Commission (EC) has urged the government to make arrangements to allow vehicles to run for carrying essential services. 

Issuing a press statement today, the EC has stated that vehicles that could run without pass include the fire fighter, ambulance, corpse carrier, water carrying tanker, vehicles carrying fruits, milk, vegetables, fish, petroleum products, telecommunications services, electricity services, health professionals, domestic and international air passengers to reach the airport from their place of residence and the vice versa.

Likewise, vehicles carrying pregnant women, new mothers, physically challenged people, senior citizens and voters who cannot walk, and their one assistant, the vehicle of the diplomatic corps, election observers, vehicles of the National Human Rights Commission used for election monitoring and observation and the vehicles of the media professionals also don’t need pass to travel, according to the EC.

The EC has stated that an integrated desk has been established at the EC premises to issue pass for the vehicles that are being don’t from the district administration offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.(RSS)
