KATHMANDU:- Nepali Congress Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma has reviewed the reasons for the election loss. He has made a 27-point election review in the political report submitted to the Central Committee meeting held today. His report mentions that the alliance has increased anger and resentment.

The report states, “It was both a necessity and a compulsion of the then political situation for the Nepali Congress to take the initiative to save the House of Representatives, which had been dissolved due to the internal conflict within the CPN UML. However, when the alliance formed to protect the parliament and the constitution was also used to win elections, it sowed serious discontent within the party ranks, while the very word alliance gradually became unpopular among the citizens. This only served to increase the level of anger and resentment among the citizens.”

The report states that the Congress’s biggest mistake was the Congress-UML coalition government.

The report states, “It was an overnight agreement made in a non-transparent manner without dialogue even at the party’s general secretary level. One of the two main parties in parliament had to take on the opposition role in parliament by constructively representing the citizen’s dissatisfaction. When the opposition becomes the ruling party, the opposition voice in parliament becomes weak. In a democracy, when the voice of citizens’ dissatisfaction and issues in parliament becomes weak, then someone else can take those dissatisfaction and issues to the streets. That’s what happened.”

“As the opposition weakened, the voice outside parliament eventually began to grow stronger through social media. That voice played a major role in the Gen Z rebellion, and that voice transformed into a vote against us on March 5. The consequences of doing what should not be done, what should not be done, and the consequences of doing what should not be done, increased expectations of accelerating the pace of the government after the two major parties formed a government together,” the report said.

The report states, “When the two parties formed the government, a 7-point agreement was mentioned regarding timely amendments to the constitution. But a task force was not even formed. Even as the country approached a decade of federalism, there was a delay in granting the required powers to the provinces. Teachers had to go on strike for the School Education Bill, and even after the agreement, the Education Bill and the Civil Servant Bill were not easily finalized. All this led to extreme dissatisfaction in each and every area.”

The report states that there was widespread dissatisfaction in Parliament over the delay in preparing the budget and that citizens were not consulted when the social media bill was registered in the National Assembly. The sudden decision to close down social media was made without the consent of the coalition. The consequences of not doing what should be done and not doing what should not be done were not taken into account. As a result, the ground was prepared for the Genji rebellion, and the environment for the current defeat was created.
