LOS ANGELES:- The Supreme Court has approved the Trump administration’s emergency request to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 300,000 Venezuelan immigrants in the United States.

In a 6-3 decision on Friday, the Supreme Court granted the Trump administration’s emergency request to end Temporary Resident Aliens Program (TPS), blocking a ruling by U.S. District Judge Edward Chen for the Northern District of California.

U.S. District Judge Edward Chen issued an injunction against the Trump administration’s attempt to revoke TPS, once in March and then again in September.

“President Trump is overhauling America’s immigration system so that it truly benefits American citizens, and today’s Supreme Court victory is a victory for the American people,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

“The American people should not have had to go to the Supreme Court twice for justice. Temporary Protected Status should always be that: temporary. Yet, previous administrations misused, exploited, and distorted TPS into a de facto amnesty program. Now, the law is clear.”

The ruling follows several other major legal victories in the Trump administration’s efforts to curtail the TPS program, including in countries such as Honduras, Nicaragua, and Nepal.
