LOS ANGLES:- The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has issued a statement regarding the shooting death of three people at a US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention center in Dallas, saying the hateful attack was motivated by hatred for ICE.
This morning, a gunman opened fire from a rooftop near the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Dallas field office, according to DHS, which released details of the incident.
The gunman opened fire indiscriminately at the ICE detention facility, including a van in Sallyport where the victims were shot. Three inmates were shot.
One person has died and two others are in critical condition. The gunman was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The shells had anti-ICE messages written on them. This was an attack on ICE law enforcement.
“This despicable attack was motivated by hatred for ICE,” said DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. ‘For months, we have been warning politicians and the media to tone down their rhetoric about ICE law enforcement before someone dies. This shooting should serve as a wake-up call to the far-left that their rhetoric about ICE has consequences. The violence and dehumanization of these men and women who enforce the law must stop. We are praying for the victims and their families.’
According to the incident report released by DHS, this is not the first attack on the ICE detention center. Last month, the center was the subject of a bomb threat. An unidentified male individual, later identified as Bratton Dean Wilkinson, a 36-year-old American citizen, arrived at the reporting entrance of the Dallas Field Office and claimed to have a bomb in his bag at approximately 6:37 p.m. local time.
The man showed the security officer what he claimed was a “detonator” on his wrist. Shelter-in-place was issued for the facility. The officer called 911 and local police responded with a bomb squad. Wilkinson was taken into custody by local law enforcement and charged with making terroristic threats.
