WASHINGTON:- The Government of Nepal and the US government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) have announced that the US will add an additional grant of US$50 million (approximately Rs. 7 billion) to the MCC Nepal Agreement.
With the additional assistance, the total amount available under the agreement has reached US$747 million (approximately Rs. 106 billion), including US$550 million and the Government of Nepal’s $197 million.
It is believed that additional sources of assistance will help complete prioritized electricity transmission infrastructure, strengthen Nepal’s energy system, and enable the growth of regional energy trade.
This financial assistance reflects the enduring partnership between the United States and Nepal. For decades, our countries have worked together to advance economic growth, energy security, and mutual prosperity.
The MCC Nepal Agreement continues that history through debt-free, grant-based assistance focused on high-impact infrastructure.
