Upcoming March 5 election, an outcome of young generation’s uprising: President Paudel

-

KATHMANDU:- President Ramchandra Paudel has said the upcoming March 5 election to the House of Representatives (HoR) was an outcome of the young generation’s uprising.

The Head of State has called for support from one and all to make the election a success. In his address to the reception hosted at the Nepali Embassy in Doha, Qatar, today, President Paudel stated that the election will be spectacular for Nepal’s development and destiny, informed the President’s press advisor.

The young generation had waged the struggle for ending corruption, enabling good governance and development, and putting an end to the situation for the youths to go abroad, President Paudel said, claiming that the ill-efforts of some unscrupulous elements who opted to cherish their implied interests on their backs turned abortive with the protection of the Constitution and systems.

Though it is difficult to find solutions to the upheavals brought about by youth movements in other countries of the globe, Nepal has presented a different story of safeguarding politics by preserving the systems and the constitution, the President further shared. He urged the Nepali community to apply the experience gained from Qatar’s development, progress and technology to the development of Nepal.

President Paudel and first lady Sabita Paudel arrived there today in the course of attending the ‘Second World Summit for Social Development’ to be held in Doha, Qatar, from November 4-6. Nepal’s Ambassador to Qatar, Ramesh Chandra Paudel, along with senior officials and representatives of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), had welcomed the President-led Nepali delegation.

President Paudel and his delegation are attending the summit at the official invitation of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. According to the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, President Paudel is scheduled to address the main session of the ‘Second World Summit for Social Development’ on November 4 (Tuesday).

It has been reported that he will hold separate sideline meetings with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on the occasion. The summit is anticipated to have discussions on issues such as inequality in development facing the current world, the imbalance in population, and the social impact of technology.

Since joining the United Nations as a member in 1955, Nepal has always been active and committed to peace and stability. Nepal is currently chairing the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). After wrapping up the formal visit to Qatar, President Paudel will return home on November 6.
