TOKYO:- A case of a Nepali man defrauding dozens of students in Japan by promising to provide them with work has been made public. Pradeep Bhatta, who hails from Nuwakot and currently lives in Tokyo, Japan, has absconded after showing fake documents to college-passed students and extorting money from them. The students who paid Bhatta were left in a state of confusion.

Bhatta had taken money from dozens of students by promising to extend their visas and provide them with jobs. According to the victim students, he had taken 300,000 Japanese yen per student, promising to provide working visas and jobs to students who had graduated from various campuses (Gako) in Tokyo by May 20th.

“They said they would find a company through a Japanese lawyer and convert it into a working visa. We asked for help saying we were Nepali, gave money and documents. Instead, they cheated us. Not only did they take our money, they ruined our future,” said a Nepali student in Tokyo.

“After we provided the documents and money required for a working visa, if we did not get the job, they said we would work through another agent, but they did not provide the documents or even allow us to apply. Since the visa expired on the 20th and we did not work until the 19th, we have asked another Japanese lawyer from Nepal to do the visa process,” he said.

According to the student, many Nepali students have become penniless after graduating from college because they are left empty-handed until they apply for a working visa. “Here, since they do not have a working visa after graduation, they have not been able to find work. They have not been able to extend their visas. At this time, Nepalis have cheated Nepalis. If we look only at the fraud committed by Pradeep Bhatta, more than 20 people can be found in Tokyo,” he said.
