Bishnu Kumari Gurung dies in car accident while sleeping in Australia

SYDNEY:-  A Nepali woman has died after an out-of-control car crashed into her home in Australia. Bishnukumari Gurung, who was sleeping at her daughter’s house on Friday night, died in the accident. According to her family, she had arrived in Australia from Nepal just 3 days ago.

The deceased Nepali woman, 53-year-old Bishnu Kumari Gurung, also known as Himali, was killed when she was hit by a car while sleeping in a unit in Rivervale, just three days after arriving in Perth from Nepal. According to police, a yellow Ford Falcon sedan was traveling on Alexander Road when it left the road and crashed into a house at around 11:40 p.m. Gurung died at the scene.

On Sunday afternoon, his daughter Nisha told the media that she was still struggling with the memory of the horrific incident. “He was sleeping in a safe place, in bed,” she said. “He came here to share memories and love with us.” Nisha said her mother had only arrived in Perth on Tuesday and wanted to spend time with her grandson. She expressed hope for justice.

The family has started an online fundraising campaign to help with funeral expenses and to bring relatives back from Nepal. The message published with the donation reads: “Our mother was an extraordinary woman.

On Saturday afternoon, police arrested and charged 36-year-old Rhys Hawkings with manslaughter and property damage. Hawkings, who appeared in court on Sunday, has been remanded in custody. He will appear in court again on February 18.

On Saturday afternoon, police arrested and charged 36-year-old Rhys Hawkings with manslaughter and property damage. Neighbor Ali Kurimbhoi said that when he heard the crash, it sounded like “a plane had hit the roof.” “The loud noise woke me up. Within minutes, the police and ambulance arrived, and it was a very chaotic situation,” he said.

Car crashes into homes in Perth are not uncommon, but fatalities involving people inside the home are considered rare.  In 2011, a teenage driver driving under the influence of alcohol crashed into a house in a ‘safety bay’ area, killing a man inside.
